Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten (; German: [ˈbaʊmˌgaʁtn̩]; 17 July 1714 – 27 May 1762) was a German philosopher. He established aesthetics as a philosophical discipline. He was the brother of the theologian Siegmund Jakob Baumgarten (1706–1757).
