About Anuel AA
Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago (born November 26, 1992), known professionally as Anuel AA, is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. He emerged during the commercial development of Latin trap in the 2010s and has also recorded reggaeton and Latin hip hop. His music frequently draws on street life, relationships and his imprisonment, while incorporating samples and interpolations of earlier hip hop, reggaeton and popular songs. Gazmey began recording as a teenager and initially distributed his music online. He later signed with the Latin division of Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group and released the mixtape Real Hasta la Muerte in 2016. His career was interrupted that year when he was arrested on federal firearms charges and later sentenced to 30 months in prison. While incarcerated, he continued recording vocals and completed material for his debut studio album. His debut album, Real Hasta la Muerte, was released on July 17, 2018, the day of his release from federal custody. It topped the US Top Latin Albums chart and was included in Rolling Stone's list of the best Latin albums of 2018. He subsequently appeared on commercially successful recordings including "Bebe", "Ella Quiere Beber", "Secreto", "China" and "Me Gusta". Anuel AA released the double album Emmanuel in 2020, followed by the collaborative album Los Dioses with Ozuna in 2021. His later studio albums are Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren (2021) and LLNM2 (2022). He operates the label Real Hasta la Muerte; in 2019, he entered a global distribution agreement with The Orchard.
