Nicknamed "Romo" and "RomoCop", he spent the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. Romanowski played college football for the Boston College Eagles, receiving second-team All-American honors in 1987, and was selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 1988 NFL draft. He played six seasons each in San Francisco and Denver. Romanowski was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders for two seasons each.
