David Patrick Paul Alton, Baron Alton of Liverpool, KCSG, KCMCO (born 15 March 1951) is a British-Irish politician. A former Member of Parliament for the Liberal Party, and later the Liberal Democrats, he has sat as a Crossbench member of the House of Lords since 1997, when he was made a life peer. In December 2024, Alton was elected chair of the Joint Committee on Human Rights in the UK Parliament.
