Eleanora Atherton (14 February 1782 – 12 September 1870) was an English philanthropist and heiress associated with Manchester during the late Georgian and Victorian periods. She funded churches, schools, hospitals, and charitable institutions across Manchester and Salford and became one of the wealthiest women in nineteenth-century Britain. Atherton inherited substantial wealth through the Byrom and Atherton families, including interests in Jamaican sugar plantations established through enslaved labour.
