Ephraim Kishon (Hebrew: אפרים קישון‎; 23 August 1924 – 29 January 2005) was a Hungarian-born Israeli author, dramatist, screenwriter, and Oscar-nominated film director. He was one of the most widely read contemporary satirists in Israel and was also particularly popular in German-speaking countries.
