About Leonora Barry

Leonora M. Kearney Barry (née Kearney; after first marriage, Barry; after second marriage, Lake; 13 August 1849 – 18 July 1923) was an Irish-American labor activist. As the only woman to hold national office within the Knights of Labor, she brought attention to the conditions of working women through her involvement in the labor reform movement. She also furthered the progress of women's rights during the period following the American Civil War and Reconstruction.
