About Marianne Grunberg-Manago

Marianne Vladimirovna Grunberg Manago (January 6, 1921 – January 3, 2013) was a Russian-born French biochemist. Her work helped make possible key discoveries about the nature of the genetic code. Grunberg-Manago was the first woman to lead the International Union of Biochemistry and the 400-year-old French Academy of Sciences. She was the first woman to head the Société Française de Biochimie et Biologie Moléculaire, the organisation behind the Marianne Grunberg-Manago medal.
